Description
bold & opulent
Showing a pale yellow colour with greenish tinges, it appears clean and bright. In the nose the wine suprises for its expresiveness, developing a very attractive range of exotic aromas, grass and dill traces, making a quite unique performance for a white Rioja. In the mouth the main impression is of great balance between alcoholic degree and acidity, with fairly good structure.
Elaboration: Further to their manual harvesting, the grapes arrived to the winery and after destemming they were gently pressed in inert conditions to avoid oxidation of the musts. The elaboration of Baron de Ley Blanco is made in special slim stainless steel vats that enhance both the initial sedimentation of solid materials and then the further control of fermentation temperatures, critical matter in this wine. The fermentation is carried out in these vats at very low temperatures around 14 to 15 º C, that boost the aromatic expression of the grapes, and also part of the yearly production is macerated with the lees for some weeks in order to improve the structure of the wine.
Vineyards: Barón de Ley Blanco is made from grapes coming from our vineyards in Rioja Alta, in the western part of the Rioja DOCa. Whereas we have found in Rioja Baja an ideal location to produce modern style red wines or rosés, this western Rioja vineyards still offers an ideal growing setup for the indigenous riojan white varieties, with cooler climate and more frequent rains, in general resulting in elegant white wines with good acidity.
