The undisputed Beaujolais great Georges Duboeuf focuses on offering a wide range of first-class Beaujolais wines to show the diversity and quality of the long underestimated growing area. A Cru Morgon should of course not be missing in this scenario.
With the award-winning Georges Duboeuf Domaine de Javernière Morgon Côte du Py, Duboeuf is putting a fabulous representative of its kind on the table. Over the years, the Morgon wines with their profound, terroir-influenced and long-lasting style have literally developed into the epitome of Beaujolais. That is not surprising when you try this gem.
On the deep and well-drained soils of weathered slate on the slopes of Mont du Py, the Gamay grape finds an ideal terroir and shows what it is made of. When drunk young, the dark purple wine with a strong character is rather light-footed, over time it gains more strength and intensity without losing its elegance and its aroma profile. Dark and red fruits are noticeable, especially intense cherry tones that are reminiscent of jam. In addition, notes of white pepper and liquorice as well as earthy and mineral tones add interesting contrasting accents. On the palate, the wine is strong and voluminous, it appears almost meaty. Its tannins are solid and give it a lingering length. An exciting wine with great aging potential!
