The Sauvignon Blanc grape variety has found a perfect terroir on the Loire. The variety of soils in the Pouilly-Fumé cultivation area makes for fascinating flavours from the grape. Flint, shell limestone and clay soils create wines that impress with their polished minerality and the characteristic smoky note.
The J. de Villebois Pouilly-Fumé AOC is of this caliber: distinctive, elegant, pale yellow and initially rather reserved in the bouquet with the scent of ripe stone fruit and subtle smoky tones. On the palate, rich aromas of pineapple, peach and mango become noticeable, along with a fine tartaric acid.
The still quite young winery Villebois is one of the region's up-and-coming producers with great potential. Here, tradition meets modern self-image and new methods, the result is exciting wines that regularly receive important awards. Despite their increasing popularity, the Villebois wines are still an insiders tip for us and are therefore available at an extremely fair price.
