Description

The nut fountain in Hattenheim, a south-south-east exposed location, got its name after a spring, the origin of which is still recognizable today and which was surrounded by nut trees. The Nussbrunnen is protected from cold north winds, on the lower Hattenheimer Gewann, adjacent to the Wisselbrunnen. 1.6 ha of this location, which is one of the fillet pieces in the Rheingau, is owned by the Balthasar Ress estate. The special soil conditions, such as deep loam-loess soils, which guarantee an excellent water balance and the existing microclimate make the Nussbrunnen a top location . This creates the prerequisites for regularly producing top quality wines.
