This set contains one bottle of Emilio Lustau East India Solera Sherry (0,5 L) and the matching sherry glas.
In centuries gone by, casks of sherry were lashed to ships sailing for the Indies as ballast, and were found to develop an extraordinary smoothness and complexity. Lustau has revived this style of sherry in the East India wine. Unforgettable flavours of raisins, candied peel and nuts. Robert Parker's comment: "Nutty, sweet, crème brûlée smell".
The people and history of Emilio Lustau SA provides the key to its current reputation for innovation today in sherry and even packaging. Recent developments in the marketing of Lustau sherries has been the creation of a sales and export consortium which joins together with Lustau two other great Spanish wine producers, La Rioja Alta from the Rioja region and Vega Sicilia from Ribera del Duero. These three producers operate in partnership with Europvin, the fine wine specialist based in Bordeaux. The consortium also has offices in the USA and Japan. -1896 What is now Emilio Lustau SA was founded by Don José Ruiz-Berdejo y Veyan, an original Almacenista at Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza. -1940 Don Emilio Lustau Ortega, his son-in-law, moves the bodegas to the ancient Santiago district. -1950 The firm becomes Emilio Lustau SA, its size now enabling it to join the prestigious ranks of the select group of exporters of Sherry. -1970 Company expands. New cellars constructed at the old family estate of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza. -1980s Emilio Lustau SA under new management of the late Rafael Balao. Becomes one of the most creative companies in Jerez. 1990 Luis Caballero SA takes a major shareholding in Lustau enabling development and expansion. Brings into Lustau 170 hectares of fine Albariza vineyard land at Montegilillo in the Jerez Superior region to the north of Jerez. -2001 Purchase of traditional Bodega complex in Calle Arcos.Total refurbishment and Lustau now operates in Jerez from one central site.
