Formed from the movement of massive shelves of glacial ice the Leefield Station vineyard soils are characterised by their diversity, with the Sauvignon Blanc blocks being established in the cooler areas of the property where deeper, richer soils predominate. Cane pruned vines with vertically shoot positioned canopies have been planted at a density of 2,525 plants per hectare.
The inaugural wine release from the historic Leefield Station vineyard offers up a deeply complex bouquet boxed hedge, fragrant wild grasses and crisp green capsicum.
Richly flavoursome, with the flavours mirroring the juicy herbaceous and green capsicum qualities of the nose. Round and weighty with a deliciously silken texture that complements the signature Waihopai acidity and relative dryness that sustain the palate and freshen the finish.
