Morgenster Estate was recently awarded a Gold Medal at the Los Angeles Country Fair in California for the second consecutive year for its Estate Olive Oil. It was the only medal in the South Africa Classic Blends category.
In one of the largest produce fairs of the world, the olive oil competition attracted thousands of entries and offered up just over 100 Gold Medals. In the special awards categories, the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Domestic went to Lila Jaegers Olive Oil 2004 and the prize for the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil, International was awarded to S.C.A. Virgen del Castillo 2004, a Spanish oil.[br][br]Morgenster Olive Oil is made from a premium blend of olives, specially chosen as the best for making distinctive oil. The olives are cold-pressed, entirely naturally, with no additives, filtering or refining. The oil is stored in stainless steel tanks at the optimum temperature of 14 degrees Celsius. Closer to home, tasting for the Marco Zichella Award for the best Extra Virgin was held at a friendly competition in Stellenbosch on 15 August 2003. A panel of judges was made up of local olive oil producers and members of the public who tasted oils from 14 local estates - and Morgenster came out tops.
