bold & opulent
Stonewell Shiraz is a muscular wine! Impenetrable black in colour with a powerful palate of dark chocolate, prunes, liquorice and hints of mint. Fermentation in mainly new French (and a small portion of American) oak hogsheads, and extended time on skins post fermentation adds greater tannin structure which is integrated seamlessly to create a wine of great stature. The pedigree of these vineyards and the knowledge that has been passed from each winemaking generation to the next assures us that Stonewell Shiraz is a wine of great longevity.
The colour is densely brooding with a dark red rim. A very complex nose, showing chocolate, dark fruits, a hint of anise and lifted spices. The palate is beautifully fleshed & has great length, the rich fruit beautifully balanced by a fine tannin structure & superbly integrated oak.
