Our Demeter Selection: Biodynamic Wines
In the 1920s farmers who followed the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and worked their farms and fields biodynamically founded an organization. The name they chose for their cooperative was Demeter, after the Greek fertility goddess, and today the organization is sucessfully operating in more than 50 countries. In vitivulture the biodynamic growing methods found their confident followers who adhere to the biodynamic guidelines in order to achieve a notable quality in their wines produced in harmony with nature. Regular organic viticulture and biodynamic viticulture have in common that both do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Additionally, Demeter wine growers commit themselves to the fulfilment of further requirements to become certified producers and to be allowed for their wines to bear the official Demeter quality seal.
