Carignan 2011 - is composed of 100% Carignan grapes. The Carignan vines are 50 + years old. It was aged for 2 years in French oak barrels, one-third of which are new and another 2 years in the bottles before release. The year 2011 was a particularly cool vintage. The wine is very intense, it has black fruit aromas followed by juicy black and wild berry fruit and spices backed by firm, austere structural tannins and fresh acidity. It has a lovely long finish.
Somek?s vineyards are planted in the footsteps of Zichron ? Yaacov (Carmel Mountains) and are continually cultivated in the family since 1882.
